Day 1: Departure to Tsavo East National Park & Red Dust Savannah Safari
Depart early morning from Nairobi or the coastal beach resorts (Mombasa/Diani/Watamu) and drive along the main safari corridor toward Tsavo East National Park, entering through Bachuma or Manyani Gate. Arrive in time for lunch and check-in at your lodge or safari camp. In the late afternoon, set out on your first game drive across the vast, open plains. Search for Tsavo's famous "red elephants"—dusted in iron-rich volcanic soil—alongside lions, giraffes, zebras, and buffalos gathering around Aruba Dam and Lugard Falls along the Galana River before returning for dinner.
Day 2: Tsavo East to Tsavo West, Mzima Springs & Shetani Lava Fields
Enjoy a dawn game drive in Tsavo East before returning to camp for breakfast. Cross over into Tsavo West National Park, a dramatically varied landscape of volcanic cones, acacia woodlands, and rolling green hills. Check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch before visiting Mzima Springs—a natural oasis producing millions of gallons of crystal-clear water daily from underground Chyulu Hills streams. Walk along the nature trail and descend into the glass underwater observatory tank to watch hippos, Nile crocodiles, and fish. Continue past the rugged black rock fields of the Shetani Lava Flow and end your afternoon tracking rhinos in the enclosed Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary.
Day 3: Sunrise Wildlife Tracking & Transfer to Nairobi or Coast Resorts
Wake up for an early morning game drive in Tsavo West when big cats and nocturnal wildlife are most active, with clear morning skies offering scenic backdrops of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast, check out, and enjoy a final exit game drive. Board your transfer vehicle for a comfortable return drive, dropping off at your Nairobi hotel/airport or heading onward to coastal beach resorts by late afternoon.
