Day 1: Departure from Nairobi to Maasai Mara via Narok
Depart early morning from Nairobi and descend through the Great Rift Valley, stopping at the escarpment viewpoint for panoramic photos. Travel through the historic town of Narok before entering the golden rolling plains of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Check in to your lodge or tented camp in time for a warm lunch and afternoon relaxation. Later, embark on your first game tracking drive through the Talek River circuit, following prides of lions, grazing elephant herds, and cheetahs hunting along the savannah before returning to camp for dinner.
Day 2: Full-Day Mara River Migration & Big Cat Safari
Spend a full day immersed in deep-savannah game tracking with a packed bush lunch provided by your camp. Traverse the vast reserve toward the iconic Mara River, the focal point of the Great Wildebeest Migration. Observe resident hippo pods, sunbathing Nile crocodiles, and key river crossing sites where dramatic wildlife encounters unfold. Track black-maned lions, leopards in acacia trees, and large herds of zebras, wildebeest, and gazelles across the open grasslands before returning at sunset.
Day 3: Deep Savannah Tracking & Optional Balloon Safari
Begin your morning with an optional sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Mara ecosystem, floating over wildlife herds before touching down for a bush champagne breakfast. Alternatively, set out on an early morning game drive when big cats are most active. Spend the remainder of the day tracking elusive black rhinos, hyenas, and birdlife, or visit a nearby Maasai village to learn about ancient customs, traditional warrior dances, and local craftsmanship.
Day 4: Sunrise Game Drive & Return Journey to Nairobi
Embark on a final dawn game drive across the reserve to capture nocturnal predators returning from night hunts and observe early morning savannah activity. Return to camp for a full hot breakfast and check-out. Bid farewell to the Mara and enjoy a scenic afternoon drive back across the Great Rift Valley, arriving in Nairobi by late afternoon for your hotel drop-off or airport transfer.
